Bear Country

Bear country could be compared to a zoo, but the major difference would be there are no cages! Before you click away from this page thinking we South Dakotans are crazy people, let us explain. After checking in, each group stays in their own car, driving through the different exhibits. You get to see many different kinds of animals, includng Reindeer, Elk, and - wait for it - Bears!


Now, we're not talking bears inside of cages. No, we're talking bears just outside your car. Bears that are snoozing, wrestling with each other, and maybe even eating bugs off your grill (which has
actually happened to our SilkFudge team - see picture on left).

After driving through the larger exhibits, you then park to look at Grizzly bears, bear cubs, and other smaller animals.

There is also Grizzly show with trainers, which is a must see.

To the left, we have included a pictue of our FAVORITE attraction at this park: the bear cubs! They acted just like puppies, wrestling each other, playing tag, and horsing around. This picture is of the baby bear cubs climbing the tree, playing King of th Tree, if you will. A must-see when you visit the Black Hills.
